Circuit Protection Device Product Category Description

For device circuit protection, we can provide various types of circuit protection devices, such as fuses, circuit breakers, GDTs, SCRs, current limiters, thermistors/varistors, suppressors, fuses, etc.

Circuit Protection Devices Definition

What is circuit protection device?

Circuit protection devices are used to protect electrical and electronic equipment and circuits from damage caused by overcurrent, overvoltage, short circuits and other potential fault conditions.

The following are several common circuit protection devices:

1. Circuit Breaker

Function: A circuit breaker is an automatic circuit protection device that automatically disconnects the circuit when the current exceeds the set value, thereby preventing damage caused by overload or short circuit.

Type: Including air circuit breakers, oil circuit breakers, vacuum circuit breakers and molded case circuit breakers.

2. Fuse

Function: A fuse is a simple circuit protection device consisting of a piece of metal wire with a low melting point. When the current exceeds the rated value, the metal wire will melt, thereby cutting off the circuit.

Type: including glass tube fuses, ceramic fuses and surface mount fuses.

3. Surge Protector

Function: used to protect equipment from instantaneous overvoltage (such as lightning strikes or power surges). Common overvoltage protectors are varistors (MOV) and gas discharge tubes (GDT).

Application: widely used in power lines, telephone lines and data communication lines.

4. Surge Suppressor

Function: Surge suppressor is a device that can absorb high voltage shocks and protect electrical equipment from voltage spikes.

Application: commonly used in power socket boards and distribution boxes to protect sensitive electronic equipment.

5. Overcurrent Protector

Function: specially used to detect and prevent overcurrent conditions in circuits (such as long-term overload), and automatically cut off the circuit when overcurrent is detected.

Type: thermistor, thermal circuit breaker and electronic protector.

6. Residual Current Device (RCD)

Function: RCD is used to detect leakage in the circuit, especially in the case of ground fault, it can quickly cut off the circuit and protect personal safety.

Application: Widely used in residential, commercial and industrial electrical systems.

7. Thermal Fuse

Function: The thermal fuse melts when the temperature exceeds a certain set point, thereby cutting off the circuit and preventing the equipment from overheating.

Application: Commonly used in electrical appliances, transformers and motors to prevent fire or equipment damage caused by overheating.

These protection devices can effectively reduce the harm of circuit faults to equipment and personnel, and improve the safety and reliability of electrical systems.
