Founded in 1895,Harris Semiconductor, previously known as Harris Corporation, was a major player in the semiconductor industry, specializing in the development and production of integrated circuits (ICs) and related electronic components. The company operated during a significant period of semiconductor innovation and growth. The company offered a wide range of semiconductor products, including digital signal processors (DSPs), RF (radio frequency) components, data converters, and microcontrollers. Their products were used in communication systems, military equipment, and consumer electronics. Over the years, Harris Semiconductor underwent mergers and acquisitions. In 1988, the semiconductor division became Harris Semiconductor. Later, it was acquired by Intersil Corporation (now Renesas Electronics Corporation) in 1999, which continued to produce some of its product lines.
