Transformers are electrical devices used to change AC voltage and current. It transfers electrical energy from one circuit to another through the principle of electromagnetic induction and can adjust the voltage level.
Working principle of transformers
The operation of transformers is based on Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction. It consists of two or more inductively coupled coils (windings) that are wound on a common magnetic core. When AC is passed into one winding (primary winding), an alternating magnetic field is generated in the magnetic core, which in turn induces an electromotive force (voltage) in the other winding (secondary winding). By adjusting the turns ratio of the primary and secondary windings, the voltage can be increased or decreased.
